REX TRADING SIGNAL

Read a candle in context

A candle summarizes a period; it does not explain the cause of a move.

A standard candle records open, high, low and close over a chosen interval. The body spans open to close; the wicks show extremes. The same trade stream creates different patterns on five-minute and daily charts because aggregation changes what you see.

A long wick only says price visited an area and closed elsewhere. It does not prove manipulation, buying pressure or the next direction. Start with a defined timeframe and objective rules for a pattern, then measure outcomes across enough examples, including losing ones.

Worked example

A candle opens at 100, reaches 104, falls to 99 and closes at 103. Its body runs from 100 to 103; the full range is five points. These values do not reveal the order of every intraperiod move.

Check your understanding

Can you determine whether the high or low came first from OHLC alone?

Show explanation

No. You need intraperiod data to reconstruct that sequence.
